AICGS is very pleased to welcome Dr. Wade Jacoby to a discussion about the lessons from German Unification and the transition from communism in East Central Europe. He will look at the German approach to reintegrate eastern Germany since 1990 and point to both the successes and failures of the German approach in comparison to approaches taken in other East Central European post communist transitions.

He teaches courses on German and European politics, political economy, and international security. His Ph.D. is in political science from MIT. Jacoby’s first book, Imitation and Politics: Redesigning Modern Germany (Cornell University Press, was a Choice Outstanding Academic Book for 2000. His latest book, The Enlargement of the EU and Nato: Ordering from the Menu in Central in 2005.
