Luncheon Discussion with Dr. Werner Hoyer
The AGI Geoeconomics Program is pleased to host a roundtable luncheon discussion on April 20 with Werner Hoyer, President of the European Investment Bank.
As the French and German governments debate a joint approach to improve economic resilience in the Eurozone, promoting investment-led growth will be a crucial part of the equation. At this event, Dr. Hoyer will focus on the leading role of the EIB in the European Union’s $500 billion “Juncker Plan” to spur investments in Europe – including its impact on the future of the single currency area.
Werner Hoyer started his tenure as President of the European Investment Bank on January 1, 2012, and is also the Chairman of the EIB’s Board of Directors. Before joining the EIB, Werner Hoyer was a member of the German Bundestag for the liberal party FDP for 25 years, specializing in foreign and security policy as well as European and budget affairs. He was also the Minister of State (Deputy Foreign Minister) at the German Foreign Office. He held various positions during his long, distinguished political career, among them General Secretary of the FDP, Whip of the FDP Parliamentary Group, and President of the European Liberal Democratic Reform Party.
